As 2014 draws to a close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. It had to be a cough; am quite certain that sneaking in would not have worked. I mean, its been over 3 months since my last entry. You should have seen the huge amounts of cobwebs I had to clear out, from this page and my brain as well, to put this down. Now dear online journal/reader, perish the thought that I did not miss you (I DID). Its just that small matter of life and work getting in the way of my musing and visits to you.

RAPE; Indecent dressing is no excuse!!!!!!!!

So it's a thought provoking Thursday for yours truly. I trust you all are doing great.

           .......shamefully, these words are true.

Ugo Lawrence: Filling Your Child’s Bucket of Self Esteem

So my hottie boss wrote this rather enlightening piece and i thought it salient enough to share with you all. Happy reading!!!!!

My cousin’s display message on her BlackBerry on Saturday morning read “parents need to fill a child’s bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world can’t poke enough holes to drain it dry” . That message got me thinking. I called her and we had a lengthy conversation about people who have a strong sense of self and those who don’t. We also talked about kids we knew and how they fared in life because of how they were treated at home.

Female Bosses; The why's and wherefores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                             Remember her right?

So I am assuming that you have like me seen the movie "The Proposal". If you haven't, know that I am saying a prayer for you (what are you waiting for)? And with that, welcome to my world this lovely and cold Tuesday.

Back to the issue though. Sandra Bullock's character at the beginning of "The Proposal" was an all out, bitchy boss who couldn't be satisfied by anything her colleagues/subordinates did. Until she required the help of her subordinate to remain in the country as her visa had expired. She then had to, how do they say it, 'eat-her-humble-pie'. And Ryan Reynolds milked the experience by getting her to go on one knee and render the proposal.

Sex and the woman; Of the Nigerian Hypocritical Attitude!!!!!!!

So from the title of this post, you can guess that I am a bit miffed. If you didn't know it already, you do now. However, am generally in a fantastic mood so am not about to go all beserk or anything like it (I solemnly swear that am up to some good).

Dear Diary 2: Emem's Entry

I have this big, goofy grin on my face and I don't know why. Or I know and am hugging it to myself for a little bit longer. It's a very pleasant feeling, this warmth and glow I feel in my lower belle: are these‎ the proverbial butterflies???

KopCorner Feature: Suarez, Brendan Rodgers, and LFC this season

Fellow reds,

This is an entree from one of us. He writes rather brilliantly and I just had to share this here. Enjoy mates!

Like every LFC fan last season, we were all gobsmacked and often times our jaws were decisively earthbound with the way Liverpool played football. The neutrals adored, our rivals could only shudder and remain apprehensive about their date with the ‘grim reaper’.
An amazing 5-1 win against Arsenal and putting 9 goals past Spurs home and away didn’t get us new friends in North London. Our neighbours across Stanley Park at Goodison weren’t spared either. We simply wreaked havoc across the country. LFC made the fans dream once again and was it not for the unfortunate slip by Stevie we would have lifted the title. We lost the league but won many hearts. All these mesmerizing moments were greatly afforded by the genius of one man – Luis Suarez. He scored 31 goals out of a total 101 and boy they were wonderful goals. If you love stats as I do Suarez scored 30.7% of our goals!

‎KopCorner: And The New Season is almost Here!!!!!

My red family, hello again.

It's been a summer filled with activity, what with the World Cup, transfer activity and of course the pre-season and ICC participation. But it still didn't quite make up for the loss of EPL and oh yes, CL action with our dearly beloved Liverpool FC in action.

What a season 2013/2014 turned out to be. We #DaredToDream. #WeGoAgain became the mantra, especially with our last run of 14 games. It was quite exhilarating to watch Liverpool come from nowhere (in the opinion of the opposition) and challenge for the Barclays Premier League title. Suarez was a beast at goal, Sturridge a close second. And the rest of the team were phenomenal. Inspite of our defensive mishaps, we came second. As opposed to the season before that when we were 7th. Plus, Champions League nights at Anfield for the coming season became a surety. It was particularly joyful for me to see the Mancs go down to our former position.

Freaky Friday: Salt and Water blues!!!!

A fab, fantastic Friday‎ to you and you and me.
However, there are some freaky things going on worldwide. I mean, I went to bed on Thursday and before I woke up, Hamas had broken the ceasefire and fired some rockets Israel's way: then a new, dramatic 'all in one' cure for the ebola virus that is now threatening us in Naija had been discovered: SALT and WATER to bathe with before 6am. Talk about a Freaky Friday!!!!

When "Bad" is "Good" for you!!!

Beautiful/handsome reader, I declare today a "Trouble/Turbulence-free Thursday" for us all. Yes, it's raining again: but that could also be a way of staying "out" of trouble. No? (Huge Grin)

Now, this title may seem contentious:‎ but when we stop and think about it, we have all been there. Now, I see and hear all your minds  working overtime and I'm going to ask you to get your mind out of the sexual innuendo gutters alright; jeez, is that all you guys think about? Pardon me, I digress.

The Diamond Woman Initiative from Diamond Bank Nigeria PLC has an interesting poll for the ladies.
It's no secret that some of us ladies are all about their Gucci, Ferragamo, Luis Vuitton, D&G and the likes. While there are some who are not so particular and can carry anything that looks good on them.

Love Palaver: Right person, Wrong time!!!!!!!!

"Bad boys ain`t no good......
Good boys ain`t no fun........"

Mary J.Blige's voice is belting those words in my ear and in typical "Eky" fashion, I am lost. In a train of thought. About love and getting caught up in a web.

Of Saints and Sinners!!!!!

Hello there beautiful people, I trust your day has been better than mine so far. It has been wet, cold and pretty much annoying so far; I hope the rest of it will be better. It has to be (am writing afterall). Pretty much feeling like the opposite of a saint right now (and I don't mean sinner; I mean the one that has horns). But forgive me, I digress.

Since you've been gone!!!!!

I've been listening to my darling Rock princess Kelly Clarkson all day and for some reason, I keep coming back to the song which shares the same title as this post. I still remember the first time I heard that song in 2006; the words just hit home. I could relate, even though at the time I was in a relationship that was 'happy' (don't ask me what happened to that relationship; story for another day). Anywho, today that song is even more apt now.

What do you say to a woman who can not have children?

Hello and a Marvelous Monday to you all. So below I'll be sharing the stories of some ladies who found out that they can not have children. Touching stuff, I tell you. It is a reality most people live with and don't even speak out. However, today's a clarion call for you to please share your tale; either how you feel, what you've been subjected to or how you cope with seeing people carry their babies past you.

Life is too Short (Short Story)!!!!

So this is a story that was shared with me and I thought it worthy of note because of the lessons to be learnt from it. It may be cliche, but what isn't in our world today? Often times, the solutions we seek when placed before us, look too simple and thus are easily overlooked. Unfortunately, they result in a catalyst of problems. Enjoy and please share your thoughts below.

A girl in love asked her boyfriend.

Girl: Tell me. Who do you love most in this world?

Boy: You, of course!

Girl: In your heart, what am I to you?

Why did you Stay?; On Women in Abusive Relationships

Below is a story on remaining in an abusive relationship and its devastating effects on women. It literally had me in tears. I hope you drop your comments below.

By Ebun Oshin

Recently my sister and I were at home just relaxing and watching TV when Trinny and Susannah’s fashion show came on. The show caught my attention because they were in Australia – a place where I currently call home. The fashion duo were randomly picking women who were plainly dressed on the streets of Canberra, the Australian capital, and offering them free makeovers. My interest was further stirred by these unassuming women who previously were going about their business, pushing prams, having coffee, shopping and were now the object of Trinny and Susannah’s scrutiny. I was really interested in their reactions which ranged from surprise, shock, irritation, and embarrassment.
One woman in particular stood out to me, her name was Angela*. She was, dressed from head to toe in black and taking a stroll in the park when the duo ran up to her. When the fashion duo asked her why she was in all black her answer was a bit strange. “I like black because it does not make you stand out. You can go about your business without drawing attention to yourself.”

The EX-Factor!!!!!!!!!

This is the second opinion on here about being friends with the EX. Interestingly, I am yet to have my say. Will do that soon and podcast it too. Anyway, here's TJ O'karo's opinion on being chummy with the ex. Enjoy!!!!!!!

By TJ O'Karo

Ok! Raise your hand if you are still close friends with an ex! OK…one, two, three, seven, eleven….nineteen…. Yup! Loads of you…sorry, US are still good friends with an ex or two. I may have taken mine to another level by working really hard to make sure that I remain friends with all my exes and I’m “happy” to say that I have achieved 99% success in this regard – there is the one ex that has dropped out of my radar; even in this age of social media she has remained incommunicado. Anyhow, this article does not focus on my failed relationships but rather on the influence that exes have in subsequent relationships.

HUMOUR: How To Make A Man (brief) and Woman (Extended) HAPPY!!!

1. Feed him
2. Sleep with him
3. Leave him in peace
4. Don’t check his phone (Msgs)
5. Don’t bother him about his movements
So what’s so hard about that?
EkysWickedThought (Yet we have men still complaining, can't be that easy after-all).

Spoiler Alert for Guys: 10 REASONS WHY WOMEN CHEAT!!!!

#10 Not enough sex
Remember the good old days when you could stay up forever fooling around? Then responsibility entered the mix — and kids — and before you knew it, sleep was more important than sex. Well, women want to feel wanted. If you’re not making her feel that way, she could seek it elsewhere. To keep that spark alive, ask her out on date nights, send her provocative e-mails at lunch, and by all means, don’t let life get in the way of kissing, cuddling and sex.
#9 Being the bad girl
Just as men feel the urge to sow their wild oats, some women have an inner sex kitten just waiting to be unleashed — and when the beast escapes from the cage, look out. This frisky behavior usually rears its ugly head in response to some sort of life change — major weight loss, new job, new friends, mid-life crisis, etc. Keep the lines of communication open and she’ll be more likely to talk to you about what’s going on instead of spilling her guts to a stranger in the night.
#8 Self-esteem
Sex can be an instant pick-me-up; a self-esteem booster that makes women feel sexier, more beautiful and more loved. If your wife or girlfriend has self-esteem issues, it doesn’t mean she’s automatically going to cheat — and it’s certainly not your fault if she does — but there are ways to make her feel secure in the relationship that could help her from straying. Pay attention to her, ask her questions and don’t hold back on compliments — a little flattery goes a long way with women.

MUST READ: 10 Commandments for Single Ladies!!!

1. Don’t be in a hurry to move out of your parent’s house.
2. Don’t wait for a man before you start living. You can live a fulfilled life as a single woman.
3. Stay away from alcohol. It has killed others and you are not special.
4. Don’t entertain wrong numbers calling you, especially late in the night. It’s not the right way to find a lover.

Rejection is a Gift!

Did I get your attention? You might be sitting there thinking, “Patricia, you are really pushing it! You are just plain crazy with your positivity by calling rejection a gift. Rejection hurts too much to be good for me in any way.” I can relate to your viewpoint because I used to feel that way too. All I ask of you this week is that you contemplate the ideas I share. You just never know how your perspective might expand if you do.

A reader emailed recently asking, “How do I tackle rejection?” As I responded I decided that I should devote an entire article to this topic since rejection is such a major and very common aspect of our daily and lifelong experience. It happens to us all, doesn’t it?

The Ticking Clock Of A Woman

Tolulope Odeyemi

The month of March is an interesting one for everyone, especially for women all over the world. It is a month dedicated to mothers, wives and sisters and I have seen many feminists tear to the street to canvass equal rights with their male counterparts. Many of these activists are even ready to burn their bras and grab the men’s pants and ‘take over the world’ and totally relegate men to the background.
Day after day, there is a war that wages stronger than that of the Middle East, it is a battle of the sexes; women are no longer contented with been left in the kitchen; they want to be at the forefront, they want to lead men to the ‘promised land’, they are ready in all ways to take over the world.

Four Surprising Truths About 'Bad Boys' :-)

The edgy, brooding artist you just met might seem mysterious. But the real mystery lies in just how 'normal' he really is...

By Ayanna Guyhto

We all love bad boys. Men with sleeve tattoos and lip piercings. Edgy guys with intimidating stares and dark pasts. They come in all sorts of packages. But they all represent the same thing: the challenge of taming a wild soul. Perhaps it's the idea of having something you're not supposed to have. It's the ultimate hand-in-the-cookie-jar sensation that comes along with capturing the attention of an enigmatic man. But if you've happened to get up and close and personal with one, you'll be amazed by a few discoveries ...

They're not so tough.
You might be surprised to find that the tough guy you've started seeing is deathly afraid of mice. This may not seem like such a big deal. But if you don't know Mr. Tough Guy so well yet, you might wonder whether his machismo is just an act. It is at this point that you discern between quirks and true character flaws. Sure, your guy probably has exactly what it takes to protect you in your hour of need. But that doesn't mean you won't first be shocked by his intense fear of spiders.

10 Deadly Words Used By A Woman :-)

1) Fine
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2) Five Minutes
If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3) Nothing
This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

Why Entrepreneurs Should Hate Weddings

As a little boy, I loved attending weddings. It was the one special day in the year that everyone got to have extravagant fun. There were sumptuous amounts of food, free flowing drinks all wrapped up in the ostentatious beauty of a heavily decorated hall splattered with lots of radiant people beaming in their best clothes.

It was literally heaven on earth…that was until I hit my late twenties and then heaven started coming a bit too close to my earth. This was the period in time where close friends of mine began getting married, from secondary school classmates to college friends everyone was getting married. Even my enemies were getting married. And like anyone going through that period knows, you are hit with a plethora of questions that can be summarized in one sweet and annoying phrase “so when are you getting married?”
